• Compile water-saving and -management technologies lifted from farming systems and water duty derivations for inclusion in current technology enhancement and characterization research programs before commercialization;
• Analyze water balance and hydrology reports to identify any procedural and assumption deficiency that may comprise or trigger the causal factors in uncharacteristic cropping rhomboids and unachieved cropping intensities;
• Gather procedural and parametric profiles on the development of cropping rhomboids and cropping patterns in rice-based irrigation systems for use in determining safety nets aimed at achieving success in implementing such plans;
• Prepare instructional and informational pamphlets in the crafting of cropping rhomboids and patterns for rice-based irrigation systems, describing the relationships of levels of water availability and progress of farming activities;
• Develop data- and procedure-rich guidelines for the target setting of irrigation-programmed areas for rice-rice and rice-rice-rice cropping patterns based on historical records of rainfall and streamflow’s for optimization of resource productivity;
• Perform other related functions.

• Undertake on-farm and in-laboratory experiments on irrigation and drainage commodity with emphasis on performance and adaptability testing and characterization of irrigation and drainage structures, facilities and equipment;
• Compose instructional and informational pamphlets on the formulation, development and operations of irrigation and drainage systems like rainfall probability analysis, system water duty derivation and cropping pattern development;
• Carryout specialized training cum research programs with substantial operations appraisals designed to develop consultant-grade competency in irrigation and drainage system management, operation and troubleshooting;
• Package strategy and intervention proposals for the envisaged strengthening of the diagnostic skills and tools in the Agency in determining causal factors in incidences of suboptimal performance of irrigation and drainage systems;
• Develop activity and program methodologies like on irrigation water allocation, project impact assessment, irrigation stewardship transfer, irrigators association organization and irrigation system modernization, for compilation into manuals;
• Perform other related functions.

• Organize in-house review and planning workshops on the research program of the Center to identify mature technologies for packaging and dissemination and validate research priorities for inclusion in subsequent programs;
• Conduct survey- and investigatory-type studies on irrigation and drainage commodity focusing on enabling interventions for enhancing the beneficial impacts, operational functionality and service delivery of the said systems;
• Prepare data- and findings-loaded abstracts with attribution to concerned researchers maintained of in-house and foreign completed research, studies and surveys on irrigation and drainage commodity, for compilation into quick-reference booklets;
• Process secondary and primary data generated by domestic research, studies and surveys by applying appropriate statistical methods to determine data means, ranges and trends useful in characterizing situations in irrigated areas;
• Update the research and training masterplans of the Center by taking into account necessity of supporting with methodologies and databases the planning, execution and assessment of priority thrusts in the irrigation sector;
• Perform other related functions.

• Conduct soil and water analyses in support to the interpretation and substantiation of the findings and recommendations of feasibility studies and research programs on proposed and on-going irrigation construction and rehabilitation projects;
• Prepare soil fertility and land classification standards with detailed laboratory analysis and investigatory procedures, for compilation as manuals invaluable as reference by members of research and feasibility study teams;
• Indicate land class and land use extents of ancillary maps or general layouts of design and existing service areas of irrigation systems as bases in setting irrigated area, water allocation and canal dimensions for every irrigation structure;
• Assemble operations and maintenance practices into manuals on soil and water laboratory equipment and apparatus as reference by technicians and researchers in using such in soil and water quality analysis and data interpretation; 
• Carryout drainage and economic surveys in design and existing irrigated areas in support to the land classification and irrigation suitability subcomponents of feasibility studies for irrigation construction and rehabilitation projects;
• Perform other related functions.
